MEET CHARLIE ERVIN

Charlie Ervin Jr. is a lifelong Palm Springs resident, dedicated community leader, entrepreneur, father, coach, youth mentor, and current member of the Palm Springs Unified School District Board of Education representing Trustee Area 4.
A graduate of Palm Springs Unified schools K-12, Charlie understands firsthand the transformative power of public education and has made it his mission to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Since being elected to the Palm Springs Unified School District Board of Education in 2022, Charlie has worked tirelessly to put students first by advocating for academic excellence, student wellness, literacy, safe and inclusive schools, and strong partnerships with parents and educators. His leadership has helped expand school Wellness Centers to address student mental health needs, supporting teachers through collaborative labor agreements, and strengthen opportunities that prepare students for college and future careers.
Long before serving on the Board of Education, Charlie established himself as a passionate advocate for students and families. As President of the African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC), he helped launch PSUSD's first Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) college tour which has since expanded to Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), opening doors for students to experience higher education opportunities across the country.
Charlie's commitment to Palm Springs extends well beyond education. He previously served on the City of Palm Springs Planning Commission. His experience in local government has given him a deep understanding of public policy, fiscal responsibility, and collaborative leadership.
Charlie has also spent the past eight years coaching with Palm Springs Youth Football & Cheer, mentoring hundreds of young athletes on and off the field. As a coach, he teaches discipline, teamwork, leadership, and perseverance—values that extend far beyond the game and help prepare young people for success in school and in life.
Whether serving on the School Board, coaching youth sports, advocating for neighborhoods, or working alongside parents and educators, Charlie Ervin Jr. leads with integrity, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to public service.
